Check out the outdated Monroe County Legislature Website

So how dysfunctional is the Monroe County Legislature? Plenty if you judge them by their web site. They haven’t met since December 12th, 2006. Nothing is posted. Ok - it takes time to post stuff but 5 months is a bit ridiculous.

Remember the big splash the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle wrote about sunshine week? Open Government and all that stuff. The Monroe County Legislature leadership need not apply. Well, sunshine week is over.

So my curiosity peaked, I picked a random Journal (summary of the meeting) to see what type of information is presented. Check out April 2006. it is pretty sterile.

What do people actually say?

Ever wonder what people say at the public forum? I’m sure it is public record. As I recall, a speaker has to call someone to get their name on a list in order to speak. How are their comments recorded for the record?

PUBLIC FORUM
An Open Forum was conducted to allow speakers to address the Legislature. Four speakers addressed the Legislature on various
subjects and the Open Forum concluded at 7:28 P.M.

Well that is nice. What did they say? Pro or Con. How about a name?

Why bother. Maybe there is a video recording or audio recording. If so why not put that info on the web? How hard can it be?

Legislator Bios

Then there are the bios of the legislators. Sure there are many posted but where is the bio of Carrie Andrews? Travis Heider? Hanna? Colby? Gamble? Eckel? Bronson? Ok 5 Democrats, 2 Republicans. I can’t imagine that these bios are not written.

I sure there is more if I dig through but that’s all for now.

Who is in charge anyway? Oh yeah the Republican party. If they manage my contribution to the community via my taxes like they manage this web site - time for new management.

Communicating to citizens should not be seen as a chore. Get it done or get another job.
