We’re Number 6! We’re Number 6!
6th most livable city in the US! Honestly that’s pretty cool, and I think those of us who really love this city already knew Rochester was way up there…
Rochester will be ranked as America’s sixth-most livable city in the upcoming 25th anniversary edition of Places Rated Almanac, according to its Web site, www.placesrated.com.
There are 379 officially-defined metropolitan areas. Four out of five of us live in one of them.
Each of those metro areas is rated and ranked using nine factors that influence the quality of a place: ambience, housing, the local economy, transportation, education, health care, crime, recreation, and climate.

When I was researching where to move from L.A. I read that Rochester, NY was tied for 7th place (this was 6 years ago) as rated by a parenting magazine, something like Parenting or Child Magazine. I love it here. L.A. is no place to raise a family unless you’re rich and then you have the traffic. Rochester has a lot going for it but still could use some work here and there.
This morning we were #5 according to the D&C. Must have been a typo or something has gone terribly wrong today. Also rather amusing to see our new found ranking matched with “City’s 39% grad rate worst in Big 4″ headline.
I decided to check into the hype. Of the Top 10 rankings, the D&C is the only paper aside from #1 ranked city Pittsburgh to give any attention to this story on there front digipage.
Move along people its a big world out there.
Good find, J.
