Better Know a Wedge: Coffee Connection

Better Know a Wedge is a weekly series conducted on RT to highlight independently-owned shops, organizations, and community leaders who comprise the South-Wedge Community.

Our first stop is Coffee Connection (formerly known as Women’s Coffee Connection) is located at 681 South Avenue.

What drew me to Coffee Connection is how they make their own coffee from scratch to exemplify and educate customers on the importance of fair-trade. The Coffee Connection purchases green coffee beans from Equal Exchange a “fair trading company”. This gives the coffee growers a fair price which leads to a living wage and better quality of life for the coffee harvesters and the local community-at-large.

Meet the founder/owner Nancy as she explains the philosophy of Coffee Connection and gives RT a video tour:

Hope everyone can experience Coffee Connection in South-Wedge. You not only support a shop with a social conscience, but enjoy fair-trade coffee and goods as well.
