Ted Nixon to make major announcement
Ted Nixon will make a “Major Announcement regarding the Monroe County Legislature’s 10th District” seat which is currently held by Door closer, Bill Smith - (R-Pittsford). It would be hard not to assume that Mr. Nixon is announcing intentions to run again since he lost by a razorthin 300 votes last time around.
There are two scheduled announcements, both on Thursday, April 12th, will feature Jim Dean, Chairman of DFA and brother of Gov. Howard Dean.
The first will be at 9 AM at the Gazebo in Schoen Place, and the second (which will also featuring Louise Slaughter) will be at 11 am at the East Rochester Village Hall/Municipal Building at 120 Commercial Street.
We’ll try to cover it, but it might not happen since all of us have jobs (I know, sometimes I can’t believe it either!)… so if you’re freed up, go check it out.

when is this, today?
Whoops, my bad, thanks… updated… Thursday
Isn’t Bill Smith term limited out this year? This is an open seat right?
Actually I’m not sure, this is my first taste of this race… does anyone know if Smith is Term Limited?
Huh! I didn’t even know there *were* term limits for the Monroe County Leg. Live and learn. I’m eager to know what’s going on. I’ve created a special page to cover just this set of Leg races this year. Some change - even just a little - would be welcome in the County this year.
In the Monroe County Leg, it’s not term limit, but year limit since the terms stagger in length. In this case, yes, Bill Smith is done with ten years of service now.
Yes, there are term limits in the Monroe County Leg and this will be an open seat.

If Ted N. couldn’t beat an old joke like Bill Smith 2 years ago, who can he beat?
Anyone for a real candidate?
Oh “Progressive,” you trolls always have the wittiest names! Nixon barely lost… Smith was an incumbent with incumbent name recognition… Pittsford is no longer a Republican stronghold and as it went to Massa last time around.
You don’t think these things factor into an ‘07 victory for Nixon? The Repubs are going to have somebody with as much, if not less name recognition, since Bill’s gotta walk than Nixon. You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, but you clearly haven’t met Ted Nixon if that’s how you feel.
