Randy, we’re not in Texas anymore

Randy Kuhl voted “no” on the Iraq supplemental spending bill/withdrawl mandate today. And he issued a crazy release about it. My take is that he is playing too much to the Lonsberry crazies here; he also seems to forget that as rural as the Southern Tier might be, he’s not in Texas:

Now more than ever it is important that our troops understand that we will send them more than just words,” Rep. Kuhl continued. “They need our full commitment that more than adequate resources and reinforcements they need to succeed in their mission will be there as promised. This is a very serious call to Speaker Pelosi: Madam Speaker, do not undercut our troops.”

“In Texas, we have a phrase for folks who talk a big game and fail to deliver. We call that ‘All sizzle and no steak,’” said Rep. (Sam) Johnson.

The technical term for this is bulls**t. This doesn’t undercut the troops. You can think we should stay in Iraq for 20 years or think we should be out in year. You tell me: which of those positions “undercuts the troops”?

Actually the technical term from Texas is “All hat, no cattle”. The Republicans are all about talk about supporting the troops, the cute little yellow magnets and all that but then it comes to really supporting the troops we get

Lousy DOD facilities at Walter Reed
Closures in VA facilities
Late deployment of up armored vehicles
Late deployment of body Armor
A foreign policy that makes America’s position weaker
Lack of a plan to manage the piece.
Stop loss
Lowering of recruiting standards

Feel free to add to the list.

I don’t know why anyone would want to enable an administration who is “all hat, no cattle”. I would have thought our Congressman could see this.
