Maybe he deserves to be last

I didn’t mean for this to be “trash rent-a-kid Reynolds day”, but the Irish in me has never suffered fools gladly. I just read that the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2007 (House Resolution 985, which protects whistleblowers from intimidation and retaliation) passed the House with an overwhelming 3/4 majority and I checked to see how New York State Congressman voted. It turns out Reynolds was the only Congressman in New York State who voted against the bill. So much for protecting people who have the courage to speak out when they see something illegal taking place.
But cheer up, Tom — at least you’re not head of the NRCC anymore. Here’s Politico’s “The Crypt” a few days ago:
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll suggests 2008 could be the worst year for a GOP presidential candidate in 30 years, and if the election were right now, that Republican would be Rudy Guiliani. See the details here (subscription required). And then think about how bad Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) and Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), the chairmen of the NRSC and NRCC feel when they read this. Then thank whatever deity or deities you pray to (or not) that you are not those two at this very moment.
I have to confess for having some affection for old rent-a-kid. He came off looking like stand up guy in later accounts of the Foley affair.

How does Tom live with himself ?
Happy St. Paddy’s Day, Irish.

[...] Now, to give credit where it’s due, let me make mention of the fact that Randy occasionally gets something right. In this scene, Tom Reynolds is the bad guy, as well he should be. [...]
