DFE on City on Maggie Brooks

DFE, commenting on the City paper’s take on Maggie Brooks’ li-berry fun:

LIBRARY: Maggie’s shocked! Shocked! - News & Opinion - Rochester City Newspaper

Brooks would have scored a lot more points with me if she had picked up the phone and called the director of the library after the Channel 10 piece. I’d have thought more of her as a public servant if she had expressed her concern and asked if she couldn’t sit down with the director and discuss the situation.Maybe she did exactly that. Brooks doesn’t return a lot of phone calls from this newspaper. But we do know that she sent out a press release threatening to cut off millions of dollars of county funds from the library if it didn’t shape up. With that, the media were off and running.

The Supreme Court has already weighed in on this issue many years ago, the one point Mary Anna Towley did not mention in the piece. This whole thing is pure political grandstanding and nothing more.

Yep. All part of the recently kicked off “Please Re-Elect Brooks in 2007!” campaign. Although I kinda miss seeing this discussed in a post without Brooks’ face sandwiched between a Playboy cover and a Big Brother poster.

BTW, DFE makes interesting commentary on a number of other things in that post. Worth a read.
