Jim Walsh and follow-up to the Lyon’s Town Hall Meeting

Well, we must have missed this and a quick look on Walsh Watch didn’t cover it either. That’s OK- Here is a LTE from Paloma Capanna who attended the Jim Walsh’s town hall in Lyons

From the Messenger Post.

“No one in his right mind would support military intervention in Iran,” you said. I couldn’t agree with you more, Mr. Walsh.

But you interrupted me when I tried to ask a second question on the subject of potential military intervention in Iran. You and state Assemblyman Robert Oaks, both, literally told me I was “done” with my turn at asking questions at the Feb. 20 Town Hall Meeting in Lyons.

Sounds like all constituent questions are equal, some are more equal than others.

So you didn’t hear my second question. You didn’t know that I wanted reassurance from you, our man in Washington, D.C., our man who rode Air Force One with the President in 2005. I was going to ask for your reassurance that what I have been hearing for the past week is all just a media farce, these headlines of presidential ultimatums, levels of strikes, troop sizes, all of this noise sounding frighteningly like the run up to Iraq.

[snip]

Mr. Walsh, if President Bush seeks congressional authority for military intervention in Iran, I will expect you to vote against it. I will rely on what you said in response to my first and only question: “No one in his right mind would support military intervention in Iran.” Don’t lose your mind this time, Mr. Walsh. Don’t lose your mind the way you did when you voted to support military intervention in Iraq.

Note to Jim Walsh. If you want to roll out the “new and improved” Jim Walsh, the one who after a long hiatus has resorted to town hall meetings to listen to the voters then you actually have to let them talk and ask questions. Follow-up questions should be allowed.
