But Tom Vilsack is out of the ‘08 race citing other better known and better financed candidates in the field…  Oh well, I think the world will keep spinning

I actually liked Vilsack, especially after I saw him on ABC’s “This Week” a short time ago. I think he could be a great progressive advocate, given his background as an adoptee and what not. Probably because I was also adopted, I tend to feel we need more elected officials who were either adopted or in the foster care system. They need that real life experience to be able to filter their policy preferences, but I am sure other candidates have the ability to do just as well, I only hope they actually do.

he bowed out in time to preserve the potential to be named to a ticket.

he doesn’t really excite me, but i guess he might give a Dem ticket some heft in purple Iowa in the general.

if anything, this is really just a sad commentary on the massive wads of cash that a person has to raise immediately in order to be competitive. makes you wonder if a Jimmy Carter-type candidacy could survive today.
