Massa to announce next week

So says the Elmira S-G:

Democrat Eric Massa of Corning, who came close to unseating Republican Rep. John R. Kuhl Jr. in November, said today he will announce next week whether he will seek a rematch with the congressman.

Massa, a retired Naval officer, is in the nation’s capital this week seeking the advice of Democratic Party leaders and members of Congress as he weighs whether to run again. Among the Democrats he met with were Reps. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., Brian Higgins, D-N.Y. and Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y.

Next week, Massa plans to meet with officials of the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. He also hopes to meet with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. He already has met with DNC Chairman Howard Dean.

In other words, he’s running in 2008. If he wasn’t, why would he go to Washington and talk with Democratic house leaders, then make an announcement about making an announcement?

Maybe Massa wants to make sure the DCCC’s going to support him with more than a slap on the back. The party gave him nothing excapt advice. He raised more money from grassroots donations than Randy did from Corporate PACs and private donations.

I am confused: didn’t he say he was going to announce “next week” two weeks ago? I thought I saw him say that on the video. Is he still being coy?
And didn’t you ask this question 20 days ago? Come on Eric, run already! You are teasing us.

Nah, in the video we posted (and summerized) on 2/8, Massa said he was going to decide in the next few days but that only a select few would know his decision. He told the audience that he will be saving his actual announcement for another time (since the election is still a year and a half off)

Its time to sweep the GOP totally out of NY. 2008 is going to be an excellent year.

Come on, Eric goes to DC on a regular basis. He is still employed at Strategic Insights Group (stratsight.com) and he is there frequently doing his work. Of course he goes to DC. The question is: will he actually run? MaryR ileyNY, I wondered as well after his article in the Star Gazette and his start on his DailyKos post. I wonder if he is waiting for something?

And what happened to the legal thing he was dealing with? Is that over?
