Why I think Kuhl will vote with the Democrats for the anti-escalation resolution

I think Kuhl will vote with the Dems in favor ot the anti-escalation resolution for the following reasons:

(1) Walsh is voting with the Democrats.

(2) Kuhl was one of about 60 Republicans who voted with Democrats on issues like minimum wage and student loan relief. Fighting 29th has more on this.

(3) This is the big one for me: he cosigned a letter written by Wayne Gilchrest (R-Md) asking Bush to resume diplomatic relations with Iran. The other seven Republican cosigners include Walter Jones (R-NC) who co-sponsored the resolution and three other Republicans who are openly supporting the resoluton.

The only sign that he may vote against it is that McHugh surprised me by announcing he would vote against it (oddly, after recommending what sounded to me like a tougher anti-escalation plan of his own).

A friend in the know, though, tells me that Kuhl may have signed the Gilchrest letter just to “add nuance to his MidEast dummery.” So what do I know.

So the Deputy Whip of the Republican party will vote against his party?

I don’t think he has the stones.

Sort of like George Bush admitting that he would do something over.
