Let’s get it on…
Louise just introduced the anti-escalation resolution. There’s a rules debate going on right now. She’ll be on for about 30 minutes, then the ranking Republican on the Rules Committee (Dreier, who’s not that bad generally) will talk for a while. I’ll let you know when Kuhl and the gang will be on as soon as I have an idea of the schedule.
Update: I’ll do some half-ass live blogging til 11:30 or so. Right now, Dreier is up there whining about how the debate is being governed. Okay, now, he’s getting right behind Bush and how he wants “the war to be won.” This is going to be a bloodbath for the Republicans. I don’t see any way Kuhl and Walsh can get behind the craziness about hope to have a political future.
Update #2: Just got off the phone with the Walsh people. They won’t say how he’ll vote because they say they don’t know what the final resolution we’ll say. They say “Congressman Walsh opposes troop escalation.” I can’t get anything out of the Kuhl people yet.

What numbers were you calling for Kuhl? If you didn’t call their DC number there is very little chance that you will get anything from them. Call DC and tell them your credentials as a blogger from the largest WNY blog AND that you need a quote from their press person. Tell them that you will post about their non-responsiveness and you will get a response soon.
I will call DC and report back
Kuhl’s office: “Pass message on”

Thanks for the info, I suspected that it would be very difficult to get any actual response. In congressional offices there tends to be only one person outside of the Congressperson who can actually make a direct statement about any one subject and that person is almost always located in DC. As such, I think we all know where Kuhl stands on this issue. The funny, although I’m not sure that funny is exactly the word that I am looking for here, is that although the Walsh people say that he opposes any escalation of troops, he still voted against this resolution.
