Rudy’s red state strategy?
Turns out he was once married to his second cousin. Let’s not pretend that won’t help him with a certain portion of the Republican base. The second primary is in South Carolina. (We kid because we love.)

Redneck jokes aside, this is the least of Rudy’s problems, as the report points out.
And not to defend incest, but marriage between second cousins is legal. It’s also not that uncommon. Close kinship marriages are fairly common worldwide, especially in communities where the pool of suitable marriage partners is limited. For example, many of the current crop of European royalty have married second cousins. (That is, offspring of a great-great aunt or uncle, with approximately 1/16 of their DNA in common). Of course, that begs an entirely different set of cruel jokes.
