Comptroller race
I don’t have time to explain all the ins and outs of the Comptroller selection process, but here’s a brief rundown.
The State Assembly combined State Leglisature — Assembly and Senate, voting as one body (i.e. Sheldon Silver) — will decide who becomes the next Comptroller (after Hevesi was forced to resign). A bipartisan commission came up with three recommended candidates. The Assembly is going to ignore these recommendations and put up one of their own (most likely not Morrelle, is what people are saying). The selection could come as soon as today.
There are several posts about this up at the D&C political blog.
