SOTU Viewing Event at Montys’ Korner Tonite!

What: State of the Union Address
Where: Montys Korner (corner of East and Alexander)
Time: 9pm - 11pm
Much like Rocky - the sixth sequel of Bush’s epic battle
to win America’s hearts and minds will begin with a test against his greatest nemesis: Words
Spontaneous I know, but I think it is a great opportunity for all of us to gather and share our deep depreciation of our Commander-In-Chief, Statesmen, and Former Texas Rangers owner George Bush
What will happen?!
Will he say nuclear or NuCuleAR?
Will America be ’strong’ or ’strongest’?
- How will Pelosi signify the Democrats to react?
- Will Cheney have a constipated face?
- How many times will Bush utter the phrase ‘9-11′ and ’spreading the democracy’.
- Will Bush become tangled in Webb’s Democratic response?
I hope everyone can come out watch it on the big screen at Montys’. At the very least, I will be there with a Guiness.
Incentive: First two to arrive will get a Guiness on me.

Jeers to Monty’s Korner for relegating the President’s address to a TV with captions turned on and no sound. Initially there were three people watching the hockey game on the big TV but after they left, we couldn’t convince the staff that the State of the Union was more important than fishing (seriously — it was s sportsman fishing show).
The “logic” of the whole thing is that it’s a political thing and they don’t put on political things. No, sorry, wrong. It’s the President’s address. I’m sure they were all “oh, it’s political” on September 11, right? It’s called important news. Something political — a topical show that might offend or incite bar patrons — is Bill O’Reilly or the Daily Show.
I see no valid argument in their refusal to show the address more prominently (or even in a dignified way.) As a private business, they have the right to control the content of their televisions, but I feel their behavior in this case is definitely anti-America.
