When wingnuts attack!
Our last post on one blogger’s efforts to hold right-wing radio station’s accountable for the hateful bile they sometimes spew generated this terrific piece of what I would call right-wing paranoia (I hope that doesn’t sound too pejorative — I think it is a pretty fair description) in the comments. I’m posting it here because I think it’s an interesting example of how some on the other side think and also because I think blogs should be a place where people can air their views, however seemingly crazed, as long as they do so politely. Here it is:
Is it a single blogger or is it a concerted campaign by the Progressive Democrat Party and George Soros?
One has to wonder if the bloggers who continue to perpetuate this propaganda realize the average American has the resources to go back through historically cached internet sites and to research the backgrounds of the individuals who are posting? And one has to wonder if the attitude of the blogger is that the average American is basically dumb and will buy into it?
Its (sic) clear this is merely a group of individuals who meet yearly at an conference called Eschacon, sponsored by Duncan Black of Media Matters, a liberal propaganda internet media rag, paid for by George Soros. If you look at the names of the bloggers and their blogs, it is easy to see most were in attendance at that conference. And one can see the names of the Democrat (sic) candidates who were also at that conference. Further, one can see the photographs of the individuals who attended.
Further internet research indicates that most of those individuals have an average of three to five different blogs apiece that they have been posting this story on and the responses to those blogs are again, from the same individuals who were at the above conference.
Couple this information with the blogger, Spocko, who has put out false and erroneous information to advertisers in an effort to close down the conservation radio station, KSFO and try to get the talk show hosts off the air. Internet research indicates Spocko has held a long termed (sic) relationship with Media Matters, posting on their website since 2005. However one will not find it within the Media Matters current archives. Those archives were removed, in hopes the “average American†would simply give up at the initial level of research. However, if one to view the “cached versions†of those archives, they would see Spocko posting the results, thus far, of his war. Further, if one were to research Spocko’s posts, they would find one on the internet that indicates he is working for Media Matters on this project and is asking an individual to try to gain legal assistance for him from the EFF. One such post by Spocko is where he refers to posters writing posts in the manner “Media Matters wants us to write them.â€
If one were to research Michael Stark, who has claimed to organize these bloggers (which were previously organized at the Eschacon Conferences since 2005 when Media Matters first began) one would find a 38 year old, previously divorced waiter from Pennsylvania, who was attending his first year of law school in Virginia, who states in his biographies to be a Marine (not a former Marine or a Veteran who may or may not have served over twenty years ago) who stalked a Republican candidate this last autumn and battered individuals who present at a Republican function. Further, they would find he receives compensation as a reporter for Air America, the competitive radio station which is financed by George Soros. Not very ethical, however it is not something you will hear from Media Matters who claims to be an ethical watchdog for the media. In fact, he reports for them, as well.
Though the bloggers are claiming to advocate free speech, while trying to thwart the speech of others, I doubt this post will remain up long because they want the “average American†to buy their propaganda in an attempt to limit the rights afforded to those who think differently than they do.
Not very American, is it? But, think about it…Spocko’s new co-host on his website is NOT an America, but someone from Canada. Fortunately, the “average American†is smart enough to research on the internet, despite the Progressive Democrats obvious view that they will buy into their political campaign. Unfortunately, the journalists at the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle have not done their homework and research or allowed themselves to be cherry picked by Media Matters to write what Media Matters desired and not the truth.
The vast majority of what this commenter states is false, but he’s not advocating violence or using profanity, and it is interesting to see what passes for rational thought on the other side of the blogosphere.
Update: The commenter has asked me to delineate what exactly is untrue about what he has written. Here’s a partial list, undoubtedly incomplete: (1) Duncan Black did not “batter” anyone, (2) Media Matters was not founded in 2005, (3) Air America is not funded by George Soros (his recent negotiations to buy part of the company fell through), (4) none of Spocko’s information about KSFO is “false” (it consists primarily of clips from the various shows).
Second update: It seems the commenter has now become interested in knee-capping Mike Stark with crazed allegations. I won’t post anymore of his delusional rantings here.
Third update: Now, he’s accusing us of being anti-free speech, despite the fact we reprinted his first comment in its entirety and responded to his second.

I guess my fundamental problem with his approach: “shoot the messenger”.
The real question is: why is he defending KSFO hosts who are on record advocating hate and violence against Democrats and progressives?
I mostly put it up because I thought it was an interesting look into the mind of those on the right. And he didn’t call us commies or traitors, which puts him in the 99th percentile of Bush supporters in terms of civility.
Hey, we’ve got the same loon with the same post over at Corrente. Wonder if whoever’s paying this guy is using us as guinea pigs?

If you think you’re really going to shape opinion against the progressive cause here and at other sites, then your reasoning is even less thought out than your post.
The real question is did this Ms. Morgan (whom I admittedly have never heard of before today) imply that the Speaker of the House should be shot or not? It certainly seems as though she did, and I’m not a lawyer, but that sounds an awful lot like treason to me.
Oh good. George, if you’re reading this, could slip me a couple of million from the Vast Left Wing Conspiracy slush fund? I could use the money.
Treason is an active conspiracy to by a citizen of a country to conspire with the enemies of a state to damage or overthrow the legitimate government. For example, it’s treason to take part in an (unsuccessful) coup d’etat. Depending on the circumstances, threatening someone or encouraging others to act in an illegal manner can be crimes, but they’re not treasonous in themselves.
My father in law asserted that Europe is basically socialist now when I told him we were going to Paris for a trip. I puked in my mouth a little.
A little off topic, but just a reminder that we have a Socialist social hour at the America Hating club next week. Make sure to bring your Cuban cigars, your Che berets and your donated organs for Fidel. We’ll be plotting the downfall of Western Civilization with a special emphisis on using the Inner Loop as a sleeper cell. Don’t forget, if anyone asks you, tell them we’re just liberals.
