This weather pattern is simply wrong

In Brooklyn, eight members of a cold-water-braving organization known as the Coney Island Polar Bear Club walked toward the waves, some wearing nothing but swim trunks.

The only thing that ruined this winter imagery was the temperature, which in the middle of the afternoon in Central Park yesterday reached a record-breaking 72 degrees.

And so the make-believe winter collided with reality: People wore T-shirts as they ice-skated on the wet and slushy rink at Rockefeller Center, and the Polar Bears held a moment of silence, turned their backs on the Atlantic and headed toward the boardwalk, a protest, albeit an underdressed one, against global warming, they said.

So, Feb 5th our own human polarbears try to plunge in Lake Ontario at Lakeside winter celebration. Of course there is the Winterfest at Mendon ponds (Jan 21) which is part of Rochester’s Coldrush season so enjoy the cold.

Folks this weather feels wrong and a few feet of snow we might get in the future isn’t going to hide the unnatural warm temperature we have seen already.

Highest average temperature since records were kept I heard one of the TV weatherman say. It is January and 72 degrees in NYC.

This weather pattern feels wrong - wrong to the bone.
