D&C Gets itself political blog

Clearly inspired by the massive amount of impressive & ultra-professional blogging that goes on at RT, the D&C has created their own blog for local/state politics. It’ll be cool to see what they can do. Will it be “Joe Spector–unplugged”, or “Joe Spector– live at Budokan!”?

It looks like they’ve got a bunch of folks from the D&C blogging there, including the Opinion Editor James Lawrence, who gets folks like Mayor Duffy calling him from his car. Rank has its privileges.

He also posted this little tidbit that frosted my cookies a little (emphasis mine):

The Transition

In just a few days, the Spitzer administration(Democrats) takes over at the Capital in Albany. In some ways it will be much like January 2001 when the Bush people (Republicans) moved in after President Clinton’s eight years in the White House. Remember how the Clinton people (Democrats)trashed the place?

Except, um, it never happened. For real. From fair.org:

An official government investigation, however, reveals one major problem with these stories: They apparently never happened. According to statements from the General Services Administration that were reported on May 17, little if anything out of the ordinary occurred during the transition, and “the condition of the real property was consistent with what we would expect to encounter when tenants vacate office space after an extended occupancy.”

Ironically, the investigation came in response to a request from Rep. Bob Barr (R.-Ga.), and many conservatives who had assumed that the wild rumors would be confirmed by an official inquiry. That wasn’t the case. (The “looting” of Air Force One had also been denied months ago by officials at Andrews Air Force base — Kansas City Star, 2/9/01).

Leading the cry against the trashing of the White House was the Fox News Channel. Virtually every major Fox personality reported it as fact, often expressing their own personal outrage. Guests on the channel chimed in, condemning the Clintons and their staffers.

I don’t blame Lawrence. Just another example of how the American people have been “punk’d” by the Right-Wing Noise Machine, courtesy of Fox News & co. Lie, rinse, repeat, until it becomes accepted “fact”.

We may have an agenda at RT (what–really???), but at least we always try to back up what we say with the truth. Maybe that’s why Fox News is beating us in the ratings. For now…
