Well it gets worse. Rudy’s secret Presidential campaign plans were left behind in a hotel. It isn’t all that bad, he isn’t President yet, so it isn’t like he left the nuclear football behind or something.

Maybe the leaked playbook is just some senior staffer’s gentle way of telling Rudy to pack it in already. The chance of a Northeastern Republican being elected president in 2008 are the same as a Southern Democrat being elected president in 1868. That is, Zilch to Nada.
Read between the lines. If a Republican “Ranger” is willing to be quoted as having looked at Rudy before backing McCain, that means that the power brokers have already written him off. Maybe they’re trying to push Guiliani out early so that he doesn’t divide the vote in New Hampshire and doesn’t siphon off Wall Street bucks that would otherwise go to “The Fast Talk Express.”
