Spitzer is Governor, Day One starts now
I must say it is cool to watch the Spitzers inauguration on WXXI.
Lots of people it seem to be there. I know they had busses going from Rochester. The WXXI commentator said earlier that the people have been allowed to come up the stage. Hopefully this is a great symbol of a new open government. The other thing that strikes me is that the cameras are protraying a closeness I haven’t seen in other ceremonies. Yes, the closeups of the speakers are par for the course but cameras following the color guard out to post the colors or panning the crowd. Everything looks so close. Even the sounds from people walking on the stage seem to bring you into the ceremony. Awesome
Update. WOW. I can’t type as fast as Eliot is talking. I’ll have more later when I review the transcript but What a speech and he is just starting. This speech is loaded with hope and optimism. reform, community, one New York, restore New York to greatness.
“We must make the politics of cynicism, the politics of yesterday” E.Spitzer 2007
You can see the speech here (h/t NYBri)

My take on the proceedings is Here.
Tomorrow’s State of the State address will be big news throughout the state and perhaps the nation. The lights will shine once again on the executive branch leaving the legislative branch, once again, outside the the public view.
Tomorrow’s ‘other’ story is Citizens for Better Government in NY’s delivery of the E-March petition to both houses of the legislature.
Citizens from 172 towns statewide have signed the electronic petition and their names will be delivered to both the Assembly and Senate as our members exercise their constitutional right to petition the government.
Governor Spitzer asked for citizens to act. We’re taking action!
John, you guys rock. Thanks for reminding me– I’ll post a link to the petition.
[...] 1) Sign CBGNY’s petition for better state government. It’s right here. John O’Neill of CBGNY reminded me in the comments to stlo7’s post on the Spitzer inauguration: Tomorrow’s State of the State address will be big news throughout the state and perhaps the nation. The lights will shine once again on the executive branch leaving the legislative branch, once again, outside the the public view. [...]
