ABCNews: Election was a progressive victory
Apparently I’m not the only one who doesn’t buy the conservative & corporate media spin that 2006 was a conservative victory. (Um, “conservative Dems”? Maybe Schuler in NC-08, but c’mon. Anyone who’s read Dem Senator-Elect Jim Webb’s progressive piece in the asdfasdfa knows it’s typical of the freshman class in congress this year. Those elected are the same people blasted by the GOP for being too liberal a week ago.) From ABCNews online:
The results yesterday represent a clear victory for the entire progressive movement. All aspects of the progressive infrastructure fired well from high quality candidates and good ideas from think tanks to strong ground organization and strategic smarts and passion from bloggers. The progressive faith community did a tremendous in proving that the GOP does not “own” religious voters. In the end, millions of Americans agreed with progressives that our government should be doing more to serve the common good and to help struggling citizens and the least fortunate among us find quality work and greater opportunities to get ahead.
I get the feeling that if Massa and Maffei had been in this year’s freshman class, they too would be labeled “conservative Dems”, even though they’re quite progressive.
