RP: Why does NY state still have uninsured children?

The Rural Patriot has a great post about uninsured children in the state being up 17%, and makes the point that:

The “self-regulating market policy” is no longer an effective policy for health care in the United States.

The high cost of health insurance is affecting many aspects in our country, including employers, employees, and families and/or individuals who try to seek coverage on their own initiative. Its time for a change…

Capitalism is nifty– if you want to make lots of money and buy a huge plasma TV, 5 cruises a year and a McMansion ™ that’s fine. But healthcare, especially for children, should be non-negotiable.

It’s every child’s responsibility to make sure they have insurance. If little Sally doesn’t like not having insurance, then she should get a job (or get new parents). Don’t blame the system, it’s Sally’s fault.

    Or…. what you said.

No, you were right the first time. Everyone should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps– and don’t give me that whiny “but they don’t have boots!” excuse.
