DragonFly has been cranking out the hits recently. Among them, he points out that Roncone’s restaurant has unionized, so what better way to show support than to stop by and grab some chow. I ate there once, but it was several years ago for a job interview, so I don’t remember much. It wasn’t bad (the interview or the food).
I heard a neat little spot on 950 AM yesterday as I was driving. It’s called “The Labor Minute” or something similar and the guy, a local union leader, was listing the advances we’ve made from the hard work of union organizing. 40 hour work week, child labor laws, workplace safety laws. You know, the kind of stuff that everyone takes for granted these days and forgets about when reading corporate spin on how bad the unions are (not that they don’t have their problems, but who else is standing up for workers’ rights these days? Anyone? (crickets chirping))
Anyway, they finished the spot with: “So the next time you see a union member, make sure to thank them for the weekend.” Clever, and true.
DragonFly also has a new vblogging segment for your viewing pleasure, as well as interesting musings on upstate climate change, and the Helping America Vote Act (which should be called the “You’re not choosing the GOP candidate, so here, let us help you with that.”)
