So tell us, what should RT do now?

Now that the election’s over, we’re in the process of re-tooling and re-focusing RT. Our underlying goals and mission won’t change– we’re here to help promote progressive politics, movements, and values. But there’s lots of fun things we can do to promote them, and we’d like help from you to prioritize what we do. If you take a look at the poll in the right hand column, you’ll see a list of projects we have in mind. Vote on the one you think we should work on first. You can see detailed descriptions of these projects here. Oh, and if you’re thinking of a project and you don’t see it on the voting list, you can add it by clicking the link that says “Add an answer”.

Besides those projects, there’s a couple things we’ll definitely be doing:

LTE of The Week Contest

We want to encourage brave progressive voices, so we’ll be selecting a LTE from the D&C every day, and vote on the best each week. The winner will be able to pick from a list of prizes that we’re putting together. (We started this briefly a couple weeks prior to the election, but now that the election’s over we can devote the time needed for it.)

Alternative Energy Column

Lou Grinzo is a local expert on Alt-E. The D&C recently featured him in Mark Hare’s column. I remembered him from the early days of Rochester’s Drinking Liberally, and asked him if he’d be willing to write a regular post on Alt-E. He enthusiastically agreed, so keep an eye out for it. As always, we’ll keep opining on the progressive issues of the day that touch us locally, as well as continue collecting and pooling local prog wisdom from those that have come before, and those who (hopefully) will show up in the future. From Hare’s column about Lou:

Lou Grinzo is the grass roots, where change in America always begins.

So he’ll fit in just fine here, in other words.
