NY-25/NY-29 Absentee Ballots to be counted into next week
Election officials are expected to have the ballots counted by the middle of next week. Voting machines also will be recanvassed, meaning their votes will be recounted, to certify the votes, which could also affect the final tally.
Why the hell does it take a whole week for them to count these ballots?

They have to separate the “goodvotes” from the “truevotes”.
I’d rather they take their time.
I think the last day that Absentee ballots can arrive in the mail is 11/14. Being as anal as election officials are, I bet they have to wait until then to consider voting closed.
Fair enough
I also read somewhere that either the State Dems or the DCCC had the voting machines in NY-25 subpoened and impounded to prevent tampering. The subponea doesn’t expire until tomorrow, which is a government holiday, so the officials can’t get ahold of them until Monday I guess. Something like that.
The law gives them 14 days. They’re overperforming.
I think it’s a good thing for it not to be rushed.
Just to pile on here.
All voting machines are sealed and scattered at each voting location. They need to pick picked up and delivered to the county Election board where they will be recounted. In edition each county recounts the votes so there is a coordination activity here.
Finally - each they need to research and each affadavid ballot to ensure that the voter is eligible to vote. The voter is then told if they were eligible and if their vote counted.
In NY all absentee and affadavid are processed.
You guys can blame me about the 14 day thing. I made a big stink about my vote not getting counted while I was serving my country way back when. Then Assemblyman Dan Walsh (NY 149th) got the date changed. And I am proud to take credit for this, as I still remember how PO’ed I was because my vote did not get counted that year.
[...] The vote surprisingly goes for Kuhl. Many of use here in Monroe County were surprised. Massa wanted all votes to be counted and in the end - he lost by a few thousand. Exile does an excellent summary of the [...]
