Quick look at the national scene

No one else seems to have a brief but completish summary up (I thnk most bloggers are asleep), so I’ll do a quick one:

MSNBC is projecting 235 seats for the Democrats and 200 for the Republicans. These estimates are plus or minus 5 seats. Here’s the CNN rundown on House races.

Democrats have picked up Senate seats in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Missouri (here’s the CNN rundown on Senate races). Democrat Webb is ahead of Republican George Allen in Virginia by about 11,500 votes with 99.8% of precincts reporting. There will likely be a recount, but 11,500 votes is a lot to make up, so Virginia is a very likely pick up as well.

That puts the Senate at 50-50 (assuming Lieberman caucses with the Democrats as promised). So control of the Senate all comes down to Montana. You can check on that race here.

Good night, everybody.
