Open thread: Perspective on tomorrow’s election, misc

First, alert reader james says the following to anyone receiving those repeater robocalls:

Brand new diary on Kos. Contact debcoop at d7eb (at) aol.com if you have been called as she has reporters standing by waiting to break the story.

And speaking of reporters standing by, WHAM 13’s Kyle Clark speaks from the comments:

Anyone who has received one of these calls is welcome to contact me at Channel 13 at kclark (at) 13wham.com

The sooner we can get this out in front of the press, the quicker and more completely we innoculate the electorate from the sliming. The press is downsized, overbooked and underscheduled (like in all corporations these days), and our duty as citizens is to help them bring stuff like this into the light.

And speaking of Kos, he’s not for everyone, but he does have his moments:

I’ll be glad when this election is over. But please understand — nothing gets decided tomorrow. Whether we make gains or not, we have a long, hard battle against us. We’re fighting a multiple-front battle against the Republicans, against the media elite, against the Democratic establishment — and none of that will be resolved tomorrow.

If all goes well, we’ll take a step forward, but that’s it. So put it all in the proper perspective.

The Goldwater movement took 16 years to get their man (Ronald Reagan) into the White House. It took them 30 years to take back Congress. We may be on an accelerated timeline, but this isn’t a 2-year movement.

Whether we rock tomorrow, or only partially rock, we have awakened progressives across our area that have lain dormant for a long time. We have reminded folks, door after door, call after call, issue after issue, that progressives are here, on the rise, and won’t take the neo-con crap lying down anymore. In the 29th , 25th, and 26th to some extent. In the state lej races that are suddenly competetive. We’re reminding folks that there’s a sensible alternative to the crap they see and hear about every day. We’re building networks that will keep many of us connected for some time to come. I can’t predict what we can ultimately acheive from all this, but we’ve got some ideas. :-)
