Foley Investigation Points the finger at Reynolds!
Conservative Columnist Andrew Sullivan says Rove, Reynolds, and Hastert covered Foley up for years according to the sworn testimony in the case…
Way to stand up for Family Values Mr. Reynolds! Â The way that you bravely stood up to protect your friend in his time of need (well, one of the things he needed) really speaks to your character. Â You are a despicable human being and you are going to be looking for a new job on Wednesday.

“despicable human being”
That’s going a bit far, I think. Too judgemental for my taste, particularly when we don’t know all of the facts. Sounds like a right wing rant — the type of rant that makes it hard to read their blogs and take them seriously.
There are dozens of reasons why Reynolds deserves to lose, including his use of children as human shields. But I haven’t seen any evidence that he is a despicable human being.
I agree, it is a little over the top. But I think you’re hearing frustration coming from the assault of Republicans throwing the kitchen sink at us, using illegal and slimy tactics.
I’m personally disgusted at their disdain for democracy and everyday folks who have to put up with all this slime.
I understand the frustration. Sometimes emotion creeps into my writing as well. One thing I like about rochesterturning is most of the time people seem to stay level-headed and stick to the important issues. Name-calling and such tends to turn off the type of people this blog is trying to reach, I suspect.
I’m going to stand by my statement. Reynolds is the Chairman of the NRCC, his staffers were on damage control calls days before the story broke, and yet he didn’t know any of this? He knew about “overly friendly” emails, but didn’t see fit to look into it himself?
I’m not into toning it down for sexual predators or those who protect them, and I’m sure there are really two options about how Reynolds’ involvement must have gone down.
1. Reynolds knew everything and was fully covering up for Foley…
or
2. Reynolds did not take ANY initiative to protect a CHILD after learning about overly friendly emails. If you were told about this kind of situation, would you just sit around and assume it gets taken care of?
Protecting a child predator or intentionally turning a blind eye to it is a despicable act, and I really don’t believe there are any two ways about it.
By the way, I don’t like to get into name calling. I’m not firing off baseless charges however.
Let’s just agree to disagree then. However, I think terms like “child predator” are a bit misleading (although perhaps technically correct). I see a 17 year old boy as different from a small child. This isn’t someone who was preying upon little kids. Obviously, it’s still wrong, but not on the same level as someone who tries to have sex with 7 year olds.
We really don’t know exactly what Reynolds knew. And it could be that he did make a terrible mistake. Again, I don’t think that necessarily makes him dispicable. But that’s my opinion.
Agreed, no need to really battle on this one. Reynolds is a bad congressman in my opinion, and I’m pretty sure you’d agree with that…
Just saw a very cocky Tom Reynolds giving a press conference on CSPAN. The guy really is an uneducated, illiterate thug.
[...] is not “a class act”? I mean, we’ve known that for some time, ever since he sheltered a known pedophile to protect his Republican majority in Congress, then used kids as a human shield to protect his own [...]
