Stephen Minarik is a loser
Check out this mailer that the New York State Republican party — now headed by our old friend Stepehn Minarik — is sending out in NY-25, NY-26, and NY-29.
Hat tip to the Daily Politics who kindly provides a link to a site describing the “Minarik Award” thusly:
Awarded for transparency of motive and/or ham-handedness of execution.
In fairness, I guess if I was the head of a state party that was about to lose four statewide elections by double digits, I might send out some pissy mailers too.
Update: Some people have asked how I know it is going out to NY-25, 26, and 29. It’s because it is labeled NY-25/26/29 in the lower lefthand corner.

I take back what I said tonight about running a clean race in NY-29.
Oh my. Best file this one under ‘Desperate Hyperbole’. It might be more appropriate under ‘Republican Fear Mongering’ but that file is packed full already. No points awarded for the flames n’ destruction graphics, though…. that tired old tactic is used against us First Nations malcontents so often, it’s already a cliché.
So, you’re a Green, in Wayne County? Many props to you– that’s gotta be a rough and lonely road! Which First Nation are you from (I don’t even know if I’m asking that the right way…)
Mohawk of the Six Nations of the Grand River reserve located southwest of Hamilton Ontario. A Green Native llivng in Wayne County? ‘Minority’ doesn’t begin to desccribe the feeling… not exactly fodder for a focus group. But hey, Wayne County Greens have our very own Yahoo Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GPoWC); if that doesn’t say “Grassroots”, nothing does.
I’ve been known to mail campaign lit back to candidates with my disapproving messages on it. It would be interesting to see whether there is an impact if we could collect enough lit and mail it back….
I love the picture of the jihadist. Why did they pick a woman?
I like to broaden the question: Why do Republicans hate women so much? Even Republican women (e.g. Ann Coulter) seem to hate women.
[...] This kind of divisive labelling is why I don’t like hearing things like “This kind of stupid ad might work with dumb conservatives in the Southern Tier, but not up here.” Better said, it would be more like “The Kuhl campaign (or Steve Minarik) must think that conservatives in the Southern Tier are stupid– look at the kind of loopy mailings they send to them.” [...]
[...] Hear that? Lower tax rates, new services. File both under more value for your money, or savings. But…but…I thought the GOP was the party of lower taxes? Why would they shoot that down? Time for a new PR offensive, Steve Minarik– we don’t want the people to get wise. [...]
[...] We may as well.ÂÂ The Democrat and Chronicle Editorial Board is afraid of the Minarik machine.ÂÂ ÂÂ Try sending in a letter that criticizes Minarik and see if they publish it.ÂÂ Try looking for a editorial that criticizes Minark’s slimy mailers. [...]
[...] operates in the same manner as Karl Rove (brutal demonization of his opponents, as demonstrated by this flier), and that many county programs are used to pay off Republican donors and cronies (read more about [...]
[...] is pretty funny. Remember this mailer that we reported on last fall? Courtesy of the state GOP, with Steve Minarik in charge at the time? Ok, keep that fact in mind as [...]
