The desperate hours

They say there’s nothing more dangerous and vicious in the wild than a wounded animal. It would appear that’s doubly true when the animal in question is an elephant: in recent days, the Republican party has unleashed an unprecedented barage of negative advertisements. These range from the infamous “sex line” ad run in support of Ray Meier in NY-24 to race-baiting ads run in Tennessee to other ads so ludicrous I can’t write about them with a straight face. The Washington Post has a pretty good run down on these.
Locally, it appears that Kuhl’s “Crazy Randy’s Discount Granny” attack ad was a flop — oh, well there goes the 75 bucks they spent filming it — because the Republican National Committee is now running a much nastier and equally dishonest advertisement along th same lines. It features — I kid you not — grandmothers in the crosshairs of a sniper. Given all of the recent school shootings, this is about as insensitive as it gets. I should add that I haven’t seen the ad myself, but readers have told me they’ve seen it on local television in the Corning area.
And this is a topic we try to stay away from, but, look, everyone knows that Randy Kuhl’s divorce records show that he threatened his wife at a party with not one, but two, shotguns. Shouldn’t he stay away from ads that make reference to people shooting each other?
Kuhl needs to condemn this ad and the RNC needs to take it down. I’ll be putting up contact information for the stations that are running it later. And it wouldn’t be a bad idea to write a letter to the editor of your local paper about this.

Are you saying the RNC is running this ad in the 29th or in some other districts? Not clear from the context. Thx.
It’s running in the Corning area, according to some readers.
New RNC Ad…
Rochesterturning is reporting that a new RNC-sponsored attack ad is running in the Corning area. Apparently the subject is Social Security, and the images involve old ladies in the cross-hairs….
The crosshairs of a gun is a very familiar and comfortable sight for Randy.
We saw the ad tonight on a Rochester station.
