Next time hire a real ad agency
Some of you may know that Randy Kuhl’s son is also his campaign manager. I’m starting to wonder if he hired someone else in his family to make this advertisement, because it is one of the worst I’ve seen in a while (but what do I know, I kind of liked the one where he drove around in the car bragging about pork). Here’s the YouTube (thank you, Rottenchester):

Here’s the Massa campaign’s response to this ad
- * In House votes H.R. 8, H.R. 4297, H.R. 2830, H.Res. 653 and H.Res. 802, Randy Kuhl voted against the recommendations of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare 4 out of 5 times.
- * In the 2005 Special Report on Legislation Vital to American Retirees, the Alliance for Retired Americans gave Randy Kuhl a meager Pro-Retiree score of 10%.
- * The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) similarly gives Randy a dismal score of 25%.
Here is my reponse to the ad:
- * That advertisement has the lowest production values I’ve ever seen outside of a high-school play.
- * Why does Kuhl have that “I’m crazy Randy, my prices are so low, you’ll think I’m insane” look in his eye when he appears at the end?

And that woman isn’t much of an actor. Not convincing at all.
Besides, the ad has that “vote for Massa and the boogey man will get you” feel to it. Desperation.
May be desperate, but I’m afraid it will work. I hope Massa has more in mind than a note on his website to respond. And just how does Kuhl plan to fix Social Security? He had all the scary stuff from the White House at his town meetings.
May be desperate, but I’m afraid it will work
It may work in the southern tier but I doubt it will resonate with Pittsford and Brighton voters.
I wouldn’t underestimate the southern tier voters.
The ad does seen to be an act of desparation. I would argue that Southern Tier folks will combine this wth everything else that is going wrong.
Massa needs to turn his campaign response into an Ad
Iraq, Job Loss, Health Care and the list goes on.
[...] Locally, it appears that Kuhl’s “Crazy Randy’s Discount Granny” attack ad was a flop — oh, well there goes the 75 bucks they spent filming it — because the Republican National Committee is now running a much nastier and equally dishonest advertisement along th same lines. It features — I kid you not — grandmothers in the crosshairs of a sniper. Given all of the recent school shootings, this is about as insensitive as it gets. [...]
