Empire State Eledonks
Will Rogers once said “I am not a member of any organized political party, I’m a Democrat.” New York State Republicans could say pretty much the same thing right now. No, I’m not talking about the fact that their candidates for governor and senator have such low name recognition that I can’t remember which is which. I’m not even talking about the fact that the guy running against Hillary is making comments that sound specifically designed to alienate women voters. I’m talking about this headline from the Daily Politics (which you should all read daily, it’s terrific and the guy who runs it is a big fan of Dinosaur BBQ):
Pirro Spokesman: “No One Really Takes John Spencer Seriously.”
Okay, now that I’ve pasted that in, I see that John Spencer is the one running against Hillary. Whatever happened to party unity? Everyone knows that Pirro is under investigation for trying to illegally bug her mobbed-up husband’s boat. Is she really so concerned about her reputation at this point that she needs to distance herself from a guy most people have never heard of anyway? And where’s Stephen Minarik in all of this? I thought he was the iron-fisted tough guy who was going to make the state Republican party competitive again.
Apparently, it’s not just NYS Republicans, though. ABC’s (reliably conservative, though well-written) The Note has a good rundown of the Republican meltdown that’s going on right now. They list a (lucky) 13 items, ending with:
13. They are forgetting the famous Franklin axiom: We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.
