Republicans behind Green candidate in NY-26

Some of you may know or remember that the Republicans, trying to save Rick Santorum’s sorry behind in the PA Senate race, pretty much fully funded and staffed Carl Romanelli, the Green candidate in that race. stlo7 mentioned it here.

Well, remember how there was a Green candidate in NY-26? We talked about it a little, and she got thrown off right before the whole Foley scandal happened. Well, this is even worse– instead of a Green being used by the Republicans, like in PA, the Green candidate was actually a Republican! From Dave Atias in a recent comment on RT:

For the records, Christine Murphy is a “Democrat” who used to be a Republican. She lives out of the district in Penfield. People connected with Republicans in Buffalo passed petitions to get her on the ballot. It was actually the Greens who got her thrown off the ballot. Davis’ campaign didn’t want to help, until that poll came out - and they still did nothing about it. (Though they did thank us afterwards) There’s more about this, including names and their connection to the Republican party on the local Greens’ blog (link).

The corruption never ends. I would love it if progessive dems and greens got together to complete the progressive takeover of the Democratic party. Machine/corporate/rightwing Dems, look out!

One Response to “Republicans behind Green candidate in NY-26”

  1. Dave Atias says:

For the record…every time the Greens try to work with the democrats in Monroe County, the Dem Chair either brushes us off or insists Greens register Democrat. In my opinion, in MC, Greens & Dems will not be able to work together until the Democratic Party realizes that the Green Party is not made up of frustrated dems. It’s an independent third party. We could have delivered East Rochester in 2007 until Morelle & Koon stepped in - against the wishes of the ER dems.
