But is it more important than Tartan Day? - updated
I believe that all of the letters to the Elmira S-G about Kuhl/Massa are plants, but this one at least deals with a serious issue. A reader contrasts the two candidates’ positions on eductation:
Eric Massa’s goals for education are to increase Pell Grants to help college students who currently graduate with a mountain of debt or find a higher education unaffordable
while
On Dec. 14, 2005, U.S. Rep. Randy Kuhl voted “yes” on HR 3010, cutting federal aid to education for the first time in 10 years.
With all due respect to any particularly proud Scottish-Americans, I feel this is a more important issue than Tartan Day.
Update: btp here, with yet another hostile takeover of an Exile post. (Hope you don’t mind, Exile!) I have it on good authority from a trusted source in the Massa campaign that they have no coordinated LTE effort orchestrated by the campaign. They’ve been too busy with other media stuff– apparently Eric’s a tough guy to keep pace with. They’re actually quite surprised (and pleased) by the number of spontaneous LTEs appearing on behalf of Massa. Don’t believe my source? How about the above LTE’s author, who emailed me shortly after this post went up:
The Elmira Star-Gazette published a letter I submitted several weeks ago
today. Although it was heavily edited from what I wrote, with about four
sentences deleted, I assure you that it isn’t a “plant”.
So there you go. Citizen Journalism– where you get real-time corrections. Thanks Anne!
