Prince of Darkness says Mr. Clout is a goner

Bob Novak — the self-described “Prince of Darkness” — has a new column that suggests that Tom Reynolds — the Artist Formerly Known As “Mr. Clout” — is not long for this political world:

A Republican campaign operative with a reputation for accuracy has put Rep. Tom Reynolds, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, on the list of incumbent Republicans who are ”gone” — that is, sure to lose their seats on Nov. 7.

I guess that highly publicized announcement of FEMA aid for Buffalo over the weekend didn’t get Reynolds too many votes (and to be, serious for a moment, let’s wish our friends in Buffalo good luck in digging out from under last week’s freak snow storm). To put it in perspective: Buffalo is supposed to receive $5 million in FEMA aid to deal with the recent snow storm, while Reynolds will spend nearly that amount (about $3.5 million) on his campaign. If Reynolds really wanted to buy the goodwill of his constituents, he should have paid for the aid out of his own campaign warchest.
