[...] (2) Channel 13 Rochester had one of their ad analyses (”Fact or Fiction” they call it) where they slammed a Jack Davis ad as inaccurate. But one of the commentators was station manager Chuck Samuels, who openly shills for George Bush, as evidenced by the replies he sent our readers about “Path to 911″. I’ll put up a link to the story if I can find one. [...]

"Whatever happened to free speech? Are we now at a place where people will not listen to or even tolerate viewpoints other than their own?"

Can I assume that this is what the guy from Channel 13 is saying? If so the following comments apply.

Why are we upset when the US government pays for postive news to insert into Iraqi newspapers? You would think that with all the postive things happening over there the the Iraqi's would be able to right their own postive stories.

Why are we upset when our government pays various columnists and pundits to support a postion? Armstrong Williams and no child left behind immediately comes to mind. There were others as well.

Why are we upset when corporations misrepresent themselves. Name them - Enron, Worldcom, Aldephia, Arthur Anderson, Unicol, Exxon, Tobacco etc... Does Free speech given them the right to say and do what they please? Aren't there rules that apply here?

Truth is the US government is the public. Disney/ABC doesn't own the airwaves, they are using the public airwaves through a license they aquire from the US government and through that license the public is served. As the collective public is government, we grant the license to Disney/ABC.

So this isn't a free speech thing at all. It is a serving the public good and following the rules. The rules simply means providing the truth. The public good is ill served by rewriting history.

A good question to ask is why is a profit oriented business is giving up $40 million dollars to air this 9-11 "show". Where there is smoke there is fire. What is really behind this?

Wow--that's unfortunate. I really expected more from him. This is one of the things that the right-wing war on truth (and science) has brought us: moral equivalence. On a matter like figuring out how 9/11 happened, we need all hands on deck examining the truth, not conservative fan fiction that takes our eye off the ball. They're just not equivalent.
