Geez Louise!

Tom T and I bumped into each other at the Dan Maffei Fundraiser and got talking about how Louise Slaughter has yet to endorse either Maffei or Massa… doesn’t this seem odd to everyone? Louise Slaughter is clearly the most popular Democrat in all of Rochester, so why hasn’t she come forward to stand with her fellow Democrats in the 25th and 29th districts?

I just wrote her to ask… If enough of us contact her office (it’s a very short process), maybe we can convince her to change her stance.

Best,

-J

Now THAT’s an endorsement that’s going to mean a lot after Louise tried to kill Massa’s candidacy by backing self-funder David Nachbar who turned out to not even be a registered Democrat!

Odd. But be nice, her office likes us…so far. :-)

“Stand with her fellow Democrats?” Louise stabbed Massa in the back by trotting out self-funder David Nachbar of Bausch & Lomb to run instead of Massa, even though he wasn’t even a registered Democrat. Wait ’til the blood dries on that knife in the back before looking for an endorsement!

Huh, good to know. I’ll do the same. If I had thought of this I would have seen if she’d answer that question earlier today when she was blogging on DKOS.

So I spoke to Louise this evening at the Spitzer post debate event in Rochester and I said what I firmly believe to be true.

1. I miss her represetning my district
2. I want her to be chairman of her House committee
3. Can you help the Democrats running to replace the upstate Republicans.

(paraphrasing here I was w/out note pad and it was noisy but to the best of my recollection)

She said that she was at a recent Maffei event and has provided support to several other candidates (I think the ones in Syracuse and Utica as well as names I didnt’ recognize). I took her support to mean financial and holding fund raisers. She mentioned Maffei by name. Interesting no mention of Massa but again per the other comments posted above that is probably the reason why.

2 points -

Bythepeople - I’m not being mean… just think she should take a stance

Zed - I’m involved with a lot of Maffei work and we don’t begrudge anyone who backed Capanna. Likewise, I don’t think Louise was stabbing Massa in the back by favoring another candidate early on. The point is we need a united Democratic front here and now. I can’t believe Massa would actually prefer that Louise stay neutral.

It comes as no surprise to me that Louise hasn’t publicly supported or endorsed Maffei or Massa. That seems to be typical Louise.

And I agree with a couple of the first comments. Louise was behind David Nachbar, so a quick and easy endorsement of Massa might not be in the cards.

Well, Louise did very little for Sam Barend in 2004, so her not being too involved in these races wouldn’t come as a shock to me.

It does sound like she is helping a bit though, so that is good.

Any chance Louise will start posting on this blog? She’s on dKos all the time, it’d be nice if she’d drop by and talk to the locals.

Wow, does the record ever need to be set straight on Dave Nachbar! Anyone who meets this guy will realize toot sweet why Louise backed him, and it’s one heck of lot more than that he’s a self-funder! This guy is a Democrat. Put his party knowledge, awareness and views to the test and you quickly see again why Louise is recognized as one smart and thoughtful Congresswoman who is every bit worthy of the popularity and respect that she gets. From his days as a championship debater in high school, through his academic accomplishments at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell (where I first met him), to his experience as a world class business leader and civic volunteer, he’s excelled at all levels. This is someone that was invited to the White House by then President Bill Clinton - Dave’s advice and counsel is truly of the highest caliber.

Those knocking Nachbar simply and sadly don’t know him, don’t know his background, and don’t know his potential for serving the district. Fortunately, Louise gets it!

Welcome to the party - Webster native. Rereading this comment from August of last year - and the associated comments I don’t see anyone attacking or even questioning Mr. Nachbar. The post and associated comments were wondering at the time about the perception of why Louise had not yet closed ranks.

There was the comment Nachbar not being a Democrat. Where in this post/comments are the attacks?

Sounds like you know Mr Nachbar. Is he looking this year at getting involved in Politics? There is a County Executive Race that is ripe for someone that wants to put the county future ahead of county corruption and status quo.
